Bloggers for Health - Week 6

So this week  I am supposed to write about The holidays - Thanksgiving, and how I did food wise and what not, but since I had my Canadian Thanksgiving last month, this doesn't apply to me :)

So I will just write about how I plan to make it through Christmas holidays this year!

This year we are spending Christmas at my sister in law's (Serena's) house.
Rob will be home this year, and their mom and her husband will be staying at Serena's house also.
We don't plan on spending more than just the one night actually sleeping over, but we will definitely be over there quite a bit to spend time with Marie (MIL).
So normally this would mean lots of yummy baked goods and lots of wine.
This year is not going to be the same for me.
Im actually not going to drink much if at all. And no cookies unless I have room in my calorie intake for them.
But I do plan on working out MORE during the holidays.
Aiden will be out of school, but Im sure Marie and Serena wouldn't mind watching the boys for a couple hours here and there so Rob and I can go to the gym.

Since I will be at Serena's for Christmas dinner, and have been before, I know what to expect food wise. And if I just watch my portion sizes and fill up on veggies and salad, I will do awesome! Im not worried about it.

Day 38 of 166 days

Today I will wrap up week one of Ripped in 30.. Im kinda scared for week 2 lol but definitely want something different at this point.

A couple more days until WI day.
Im not expecting a huge number. I know it has been a month since my last WI but I had cheated and looked a few times during the first 2 weeks.. and not once did the scale budge.
I know I was getting smaller, but I must have been gaining muscle since the scale wasn't moving. So technically (if I lost ANYTHING) it will only be from the past 2 weeks.
And Im ok with that. I really like not weighing in, and not putting so much expectation into that damn scale. And if its not as big a number as I want I was letting it get me down.
Thats not cool. Im not doing that anymore.
No matter how slow or fast the weight comes off, it's coming off the right way. And Im changing my life for the better.

Don't have much to say today.
Rob has been gone for one week  (longest week everrrrr) and he has 2 weeks left. He may stay for a week of overtime since its Christmas time and we could use some extra money, so that would mean he still has 3 weeks. That would still allow him to be here for Christmas though(so long as he isn't delayed 5 days coming home).
And he doesn't have a phone in his room there.. so there is constantly a line up to the phones, and nooo privacy. So on the odd day that I actually get to talk to him its a very limited conversation cause there are numerous other guys standing around waiting to talk to their families. :( pretty shitty.
And he left his laptop here this time because he assumed they wouldn't have internet... but they do... so we could be on msn/skype.. *sigh* lol.
At least we know for next time!

Im finally starting to feel better. but Atreyu seems to be getting sick again... fml lol

Day 34 or 166 days

Im so sick, I just can't seem to shake this cold.
But aside from it keeping me in the house, Im not letting it keep me from working out.
I haven't been able to get to the gym in about a week, but I have been working out at home.
I started Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 DVD. Today is day 3 of that.
She always has such great workouts for the short amount of time they are.
This one is 30 minutes and MAN, I can barely make it through lol
Im hoping next week I will be well enough to want to leave my house, and on top of doing this video I will be going to the gym 5 days a week again.

Still no WI until December 1st which is less than a week away.  Im excited  for it :)
I like not WI so much. I am finally letting go of the number issue I have.. and realizing that I am in fact doing what I need to do to get healthy, and the weight WILL fall off eventually.

In my last post I said I didn't love my body, but someday I will.
Diandra, you were right though. My body has been amazing to me.
It does what I want it to do at the gym. I don't expect it to do more than it can given how badly I have been treating it my whole life.
It is MY body. Why shouldn't I love it.
I may not like the fat that is on it at the moment, but thats changing.
I do love my body, Im learning to anyways. Its a give and take relationship. I need to give it what it needs (proper foods and liquids) and in return it will give me what I want, energy, strength and weight loss.

..........................................

So Rob left on Monday for his new job. Im not sure if its the fact that I know he will be gone longer, or that its winter and Im sick and stuck in the house, or if Im thinking about how dangerous his job is more than normal, or ALL OF THE ABOVE.
But damn, I really miss the guy.
The one good thing about him being gone for 3 weeks is he will probably notice a change in my body more than anyone else since he won't see me for that long. And I am excited to see the look on his face when I start shrinking more.

..............................................

And just cause I took a picture of it, here is my dinner last night.
Chicken stir fry with 1 cup of rice.

Bloggers for Health - Week 5

A little late, but better than never.

Support:

I am very fortunate to have people in my life that I KNOW will always have my back.

One of my biggest supporters throughout my life has been my aunt Linda.
I could never write down in words what she means to me.
She has helped me get through.. everything in my life really.
I honestly can't think of one thing she doesn't know about me.
A lot of who I am is because of her and her support of me through the years.
And I know you are reading this Linda.
I hope you know how much I appreciate you and how much you mean to me.
I want us both to be healthy and happy with everything about ourselves.
Having you go through this weight loss journey with me strengthens me and keeps me motivated.
And I hope I do the same for you.
I love you.

The other big supporter in my life is obviously my husband :)
Well, obviously shouldn't be the word I use here, because I know a lot of husbands/boyfriends who aren't as much support as mine.
Sometimes I forget how good he is to me in this regard.
Im so happy he wants the same things as I do. Healthy, active lifestyle.
He wants us to be good healthy role models for our boys, as do I.
He loves me even though I weigh as much as I do, which is still ridiculous to me. Even after trying to help me for YEARS to lose weight, to get healthy. Sometimes I just can't believe he is still putting up with it.
I know I am changing now, and I am going to get healthy and fit, but almost 9 years of me getting bigger and bigger and failing diet after diet, he is still here trying to help me. I know I am a great person inside, but sometimes I don't even show that because I have hated my body for so long.
I just want him to know how much I appreciate the fact that he is still here, and not because I feel like Im not worthy of him due to my weight, but because I have not been the easiest person to live with. How can I expect someone to love me when I don't fully love me... But he does.

Im showing myself that I can do this and that I can accomplish something I haven't been able to accomplish before, and it makes me so proud of myself. And to see in his eyes how proud of me he is, and to know that I am getting healthy so that I can live a long life, and to take that stress out of his life makes me want this that much more!

Im lucky to have him <3.

In this post we are supposed to add in "I promise to love myself and my body!"
And one day I will! I do love myself, and I will love my body. I can't say I love my body at this point, cause I don't. But I will someday! :)

Day 26 of 166 days

Just updating quickly.
Im in the process of dying my hair.. so expect pictures in the next couple days.

All in all I have been doing pretty good. I haven't made it to the gym in a couple days but I am going tomorrow morning and plan to work out really hard since I won't be sore at all - so no excuses for taking it easy.
I have been meaning to take my measurements, so I will do that tomorrow morning before the gym. And hopefully I can find the book that I wrote my measurements in from when I started losing weight so I can compare.

Im still not WI until Dec 1st. Although I had cheated a while ago and weighed myself. I wasn't happy with where I was given how hard I was working, but I am making huge progress in other aspects, the scale isn't the most important thing here. My health is!

Im going to see Breaking Dawn tomorrow so that will be fun :)
and then a girls night at my friend Sherri's place on Saturday.
Sunday Aiden has a soccer game and we usually go swimming after as a family so that will be fun too.
Monday Rob leaves for his new job, he doesn't start until Tuesday but he is now going to be over-nighting in Vancouver on the Monday that he goes to work, and taking a shuttle to Richmond to fly to camp in the Yukon Tuesday mornings. So that means I lose him for an extra 2 days now, on-top of the extra week. BUT I will have him home for three weeks at a time from now on. And that means he will be home for Christmas this year!!!!!!

Week 4 of Bloggers for Health

This weeks topic is : Ways to relieve stress.

Im not sure I am a good spokesperson for this topic lol I would have a drink.. but thats not very helpful in the weight loss journey lol (I kid)
Im great at holding it in and then having it explode on someone.. usually my husband :S
I am however getting better.

My biggest way of relieving stress is probably just talking about it. The main source of my stress the past year has been the court stuff and having to see you know who after so long. I have blogged about it a lot, and I have a couple people who I can talk to very easily about it. Thats really helps.

Also, I have always been able to put myself in other peoples shoes (so to speak) and when something is going bad in my life I know somewhere someone else is having a harder go than me. I try to appreciate all the small things we tend to take for granted. It may take a little while but I always find the light in a situation.

...........................

In other news.
I am still doing really well in the calorie and working out department. I cheated and Weighed myself the other morning and I didn't see very much movement :(
WHY DID I CHEAT!? This is exactly why I didn't want to WI for a month, because I KNOW I am doing soo good with working out and eating, and that stupid number is not moving so it makes me feel like my hard work is for nothing. Im really trying hard to not let it discourage me. And its not, im still doing what I have been doing, and eventually SOMETHING has got to give!!
It just really sucks because I know I should be dropping bigger numbers given how big I am.

Ohhhh welll. All I can do it keep at it. Im healthier for sure. I feel great every day and don't feel regret about anything I eat or anything I do. Thats a huge thing.

.............................

My aunt Linda is coming to stay with us for the weekend. She is a great support system for me and I can't wait to have her here :)

Week 3 of Bloggers for Health

This is a couple days late, but I haven't been on here much.

Week 3 topic is : A Favorite healthy recipe, so here is one of mine.

Grilled Chicken with Spinach and Melted Mozzarella

its from skinnytaste.com

Servings: 6 • S Size: 1 cutlet, spinach, cheese • Old Points: 4 pts • Points+: 4 pts
Calories: 153.3 • Fat: 4.2 g • Protein: 24.5 g • Carb: 4.0 g • Fiber: 1.3 g • Sugar: .7 g

  • 24 oz (3 large) chicken breasts sliced in half lengthwise to make 6 cutlets
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 10 oz frozen spinach, drained
  • 3 oz shredded part skim mozzarella
  • 1 roasted red pepper, sliced in strips
  • olive oil spray

Preheat oven to 400°. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Lightly spray a grill with oil (I used my George Forman) or grill outside on a gas grill. Cook chicken on the grill until no longer pink, careful not to overcook or you'll have dry chicken.

Meanwhile, heat a sauté pan on medium heat. Add oil and garlic, sauté a few seconds, add spinach, salt and pepper. Cook a few minutes until heated through.

When chicken is done, lay on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment for easy clean-up. Divide spinach evenly between the 6 pieces and place on top. Top each with half oz mozzarella, then slices of roasted pepper and bake until melted, about 6-8 minutes.

.................................

And on the topic of food, I think I have made huge steps the past week or so. I have been able to control my cravings .. ok maybe control isn't the right word, but i have been able to talk myself out of momentary satisfaction, for a much greater reward that I am working for.
Another thing is, that I am allowing myself to eat all my calories. Since I have a history with an eating disorder, when I am actually sticking to a "diet" I tend to not eat enough. But this is not a diet this time. Its a lifestyle change, and i mean that. I am really enjoying going to the gym with Rob everyday, and being healthy role models for the kids. Sure I want to lose weight, I would love for it to just fall off really fast, but I need to do this the right way, and i need to fuel my body daily to do the workouts I need it to do. And Im sure at the end of the month when I WI I will be happy with what I see. Im already noticing little changes in my body.. it makes me so excited to see where I will be in a few months from now!

Day 14 of 166 days

Im still here!!
Rob got home Tuesday and as most of you know, I usually don't post as much when he is home. We are just busier when he is home. I am still doing really well though. In fact he and I have been working out together. And OH MY GOSH am I sore today from our workout yesterday! We did our gym thing and he also showed me some shoulder/arm workouts with weights.. F*$% I am sore!! lol
It hurts so good though.

I might have a partime job shortly. Working as a cashier at my brother in laws store. Since Rob is gone 2 weeks at a time and home 2 weeks at a time. They are willing to work with my schedule and I would only be working while Rob was on his time home, I could work a full time schedule while he was home and then not work while he was away, so I wouldn't have to worry about daycare/babysitters for the boys. PERFECT!
We don't really need the money, but I do need the work experience on my resume for when BOTH boys are in school fulltime. And extra money never hurt anyone lol
Im nervous, just because I haven't worked in a long time. But it will be so good for me!

So Rob is switching mines again.. lol
The one he just went to hired him and told him that he would be on a certain schedule - he would have Christmas off, and be on the same shift as his mom (who also works there). But when he was actually hired and working they had him on the complete WRONG schedule and it was less pay than they talked about (which he would have already been taking a pay cut). So, he started looking for different work obviously. He knows what he is worth and is not willing to put up with BS. So he called the company he quit in order to get the job at this past mine. And they REALLY wanted him back, only issue was he didn't want to go to the same mine he quit at, he wanted a specific different one. So not only did they hire him at the mine he wanted to go to, they gave him a promotion!!!! SO now he will be where he wants to be, and be making even more money than his job he had with them for the past few years! :D I'm so happy for him! This new mine is a gold mine in the Yukon, and he is used to working in a diamond mine, so he's a little nervous because its quit a different way of mining, but they wouldn't have hired him so fast and so willingly if they thought he couldn't do it.
He starts November 22nd and its a 3 week on 3 week off schedule, which he also wanted.
3 weeks is going to be hard, but that also means he is home for 3 weeks, so you win some you lose some.

Anyways. before I leave I just want to let you guys know that for some reason I am not able to comment on anyones posts! I have no idea why, when I try to comment it tells me I don't have an account with my email address and can't post on that page.... so hopefully that gets fixed soon :(
I AM reading your posts! I just can't comment!
